About the IAM

Committees

Committees are where most of the primary activity of the Institute is planned, organized, and delivered, carried out as projects. The committees may be viewed as permanent project teams.

Projects are set up with formal Terms of Reference and a project director who reports to a Board Member. 

These may be internal or carried out collaboratively with one or more similar organizations, often including industry, both to sponsor and ensure relevance.

A committee is typically made up of a chairman and representatives from members, and we encourage members to engage with one or more of these committees and/or their activities. It is possible to contribute without attending large numbers of meetings or committing to unmanageable workloads.

The IAM Committees

Knowledge Leadership Group (KLG)

The Knowledge Leadership Group ensures that the IAM has a structured and strategic view of knowledge needs and activities aligned to the IAM Strategic Plan. The KLG recommends priorities and methodologies to Faculty, prescribes peer review processes, and is responsible for the quality assurance of the IAM’s knowledge base.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee ensures that the IAM maintains a focus on the needs of existing members, particularly in the context of professional development. The Membership Committee manages membership applications and transfers between membership grades. A secondary role of the Membership Committee is to recommend changes to grades, criteria for membership, rates of subscriptions, and member benefits.

Qualifications, Training, and Professional Development Committee (QTrgPD Cttee)

The Qualifications, Training, and Professional Development Committee leads the development and management of the IAM’s professional development framework. It develops the requirements, specifications, guidance, and tools relating to asset management competences, IAM qualifications, professional development, training and learning, professional values, career development, and workforce development within an integrated framework.
